HEAD COACH - PETALUMA COMPOSITE
I’ve got a passion for riding bikes, fueled by my teenage boys, Tyler & Jacob. There’s nothing more rewarding than coaching kids! And there’s nothing more exhilarating than going downhill - FAST! After splitting my Patella in half, trying to keep up with really fast A-Team rippers at Annadel in 2021, I’ve been recovering by e-biking. Some say I’m cheating, but without the e-bikes, I wouldn’t be riding 1,000’s of miles/year and spending countless hours with my boys doing what we love. I retired in 2023 after a 27 year career in the landscape industry. My purpose now is parenting, coaching, riding and enjoying life! My coaching focus is to get #morekidsonbikes and share the joy of a life long sport with student athletes. I’m excited to ride with my fellow coaches and your children!
LEVEL 3 COACH
I have been an avid mountain rambler and cyclist for 25+ years, and love sharing the stoke of pedaling with those around me. I started coaching in 2021 when my eldest child (Borne Dodsworth) began racing with the Jr Devo group. It has been an honor to work with the amazing coaches and volunteers and parents that make the A-Team happen, and most of all to work with the kids! I'm really excited to see how these Jr Devo and HS athletes develop over this next year! When I'm not coaching or bikepacking I'm often at work at UCSF in the Emergency Department as a Nurse Practitioner, or chilling in the hammock with the kids reading books.
LEVEL 2 COACH
My trajectory in cycling all began with the NorCal HS MTB League and the great program started by Dan Freeman at Drake High School. I became so hooked on the sport that I began racing with Team Swift and traveling across the country and to Europe to race bikes. I continued racing through college at UC Berkeley and had the opportunity to represent the US and race for the National Team in 2012. I have since transitioned to a career as a Firefighter/Paramedic and mostly find myself running Marathons for exercise, but I still love cycling. Cycling has given me the best friends, mentors and lessons that have helped me succeed in all areas of life. In 2021 I moved to Petaluma with my wife and dog and wanted to find a way to give back to the sport that has given me so much. After contacting Yuri and Vanessa Hauswauld I was stoked to get involved with Petaluma Composite and look forward to helping to continue to coach this awesome sport!
LEVEL 1 COACH
Being outdoors has been a huge part of my life since I can remember. My dad got me into mountain biking around middle school and I’ve been hooked ever since. Whether I’m riding my bike in the summer or skiing in the winter I always like to be doing something outdoors. I’m looking forward to passing that passion onto some younger riders and getting more girls on bikes! I raced with the NorCal league throughout high school and was able to make varsity and podium many races. I am excited to apply my local knowledge and experience into our riders and see them become the best they can!

FOUNDING COACH - CASA GRANDE BIKE CLUB
I love bicycles. When I was in elementary school, my step father painted ‘ten speeds’ for the riding community in Palo Alto in the 70’s. Every bike he painted and built was a piece of art worthy of any museum. To this day, I would never buy a bike if it did not meet a certain visual aesthetic. I pretty much have every bike I have ever owned, because I care for it, and it holds years of memories. It’s probably no surprise then that “old school” (first coined by Yuri Hauswald) was my first team nickname. Since then, however, everyone has sort of settled on Wiggy. The bike I rode for the first five leading the team was a 1982, 3x7, 26” Mt Fuji with bullhead handlebars, motorcycle brake levers and a crown fork. I have upgraded to a 2010, 3x9, 26” Trek 8000. I still ride both.
In college, I took up road racing with the Cal Cycling Team which really set the hook for me. Besides racing the collegiate circuit and USCF (now USACycling), I met my wife Krista on the team. To this day, she and I spend most summers road tripping all across the country with a focus on finding and riding the best local trails. My son Griffin rode NorCal 2011-2014. Sadly, I could never convince my daughter, Siena to ride.
Casa English teacher Vanessa Hauswald and future League Director, and I started NorCal's Casa Grande Bike Team 2007. (This is a story in itself with full details in team history.)
Besides bicycles, I have a strange affinity for teenagers and based on how packed my classes are, they seem to have an affinity for me. I currently teach Statistics and Physics at Casa Grande High School and I’m still having so much fun! 2024 will be my 60th year on the planet, my 30th year teaching and my 18th year as NorCal head coach. I guess I will give up teaching and coaching when you pry the marker and brake lever from my cold, dead hand.
LEVEL 2 COACH
Nick Tribble's journey into the world of cycling began his freshman year at Casa Grande. At his first race, he finished dead last next to one of his best friends. Both of them crossed the line with huge smiles across their faces. He continued racing throughout highschool, placing 6th overall in Varsity his senior year. In college, different disciplines including road, cyclocross, downhill and enduro were added to the race schedule.
His obsession with bikes drew Nick into bike shops where he’s been tinkering and repairing bikes since he was fifteen. Nick can thank many bike shops between California and Massacusettes for some of his closest friends in the world. He even met his girlfriend when she stopped by the shop for a snack after forgetting her mid-ride pop tart!
Nick was fortunate to have wonderful coaches like Scot Wigert and Matt Muldoon as well as great teammates that showed him the ropes in highschool. His time as team captain in highschool launched his affinity for mountain bike coaching. Although sporadic since graduating from highschool in 2015, Nick tried his best to help out where he could with the team. He was finally able to be a consistent Wednesday coach through the 2023 season and is working towards a level 2 coach certification for the 2024 season.
Nowadays, you’re much more likely to see Nick sitting on his bike overlooking the sunset than pinned between the tape. While Nick still races occasionally, he gets more satisfaction out of seeing the smiles and stoke from the young riders!
LEVEL 1 COACH
I have always loved being outdoors. I grew up romping around Mt. Tamalpais, sometimes on foot, sometimes on skateboard, but most often on a mountain bike. Mountain biking has forever been a staple in my life and I'm lucky that I am able to share my love for the sport with my son. I am excited to contribute as much as I can to help support the team and coaches as well as the entire NorCal League.
